Jenna Ortega honors Winona Ryder’s Lydia Deetz wedding dress at the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Venice premiere

It’s showtime!

Jenna Oregta and Winona Ryder brought Gothic glamour to the Venice Film Festival, with Ortega seemingly paying homage to Ryder’s character Lydia Deetz’s iconic red wedding dress from the original film at the Venice Film Festival.

The stars of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice kicked off the 81st edition of the event by posing side by side.

Ortega wore a sheer red Dior Haute Couture creation consisting of a heart-shaped top and a pleated bottom that revealed her platform sandals. She finished the look with a Bois de Rose necklace, bracelet and rings in white gold, rose gold and diamonds by Dior Joaillerie as well as a matching red lip.

Ryder, meanwhile, wore a Chanel skirt suit with a cropped jacket and vest with contrasting buttons, a white button-up shirt and a floor-length skirt.

Ortega and her stylist Enrique Melendez created striking looks inspired by the original film during the press tour.

On August 19, the actress stepped out in New York in an outfit that paid homage to the final look Ryder wore in the 1988 film.

For the nearly identical fit, Melendez collaborated with Thom Browne, who customized one of their sweaters with an emblem similar to the one on Ryder’s blazer in the final scene, and Ozias, who created her handbag for the Recently Deceased. Her rings included a Suzanne Kalan Golden Milli Stacker Diamond Eternity Band and a Rainbow K Ring Empress Sapphires.

“As previously stated, Winona Ryder/Lydia Deetz are The BluePrint,” the stylist shared on Instagram.

Earlier this month, the Wednesday star was in Mexico City to promote the sequel. Orgeta wore a custom-made Lurline gown with the shrunken head on the bodice. She also wore an archive Vivienne Westwood dress that Melendez said “really exists in the world of Tim Burton.”

Ryder previously appeared promoting the upcoming film on August 17, making a statement in a black Elena Dawson dress featuring a stand-up collar plus contrasting white buttons along the top and a pleated skirt.

She paired the gothic look, styled by Erica Cloud, with a textured ponytail created by hairstylist Ben Skervin and dramatic eyeliner from makeup artist Francelle Daly.

During the press conference for the sequel, Ortega spoke candidly about her bond with Ryder.

After describing Ryder The New York Times The interview podcast Lulu Garcia-Navarro described as “warm” and “welcoming,” Ortega said there was something “odd and unusual,” if you want to call it that, about their connection.

“The way Winona and I interacted was kind of weird. It was like we were kind of reading each other’s minds,” the star told Garcia-Navarro.

Of Ryder’s impact, Ortega continued: “She made me feel really, really beautiful and special.”

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is in theaters from September 6.
