    Maybe Ohio State’s football players don’t want a free pass in Week 3.

    The No. 2 Buckeyes (2-0) have outscored their first two opponents 108-6 through the first two weeks of the 2024 college football season, proving the team is poised for a deep run and a potential shot at the 12-team College Football Playoff in the newly expanded Big Ten this season under sixth-year coach Ryan Day.

    OSU opened the season with a 52-6 win over in-state rival Akron and followed it up with a 56-0 shutout win over Western Michigan in Week 2. The shutout was the Buckeyes’ first in five years. Through two weeks, Kansas State transfer Will Howard is 35-for-54 passing for 520 yards and four touchdowns, while freshman sensation receiver Jeremiah Smit leads the team with 11 receptions for 211 yards and three scores.

    Ohio State returns to action in Week 4 with a third straight home game against Marshall. Here’s what you need to know about the Buckeyes’ remaining schedule:

    Is American football played at Ohio State these days?

    No, Ohio State is not playing this week, as it is the first of two off weeks in the 2024 college football season.

    The Buckeyes return to action in Week 4 against Marshall at home and open Big Ten play the following week against visiting Michigan State. The game against the Thundering Herd will mark the third-ever matchup between the two programs and the first since 2010. The Buckeyes have won both previous games, including a 45-7 victory in Columbus on Sept. 2, 2010.

    OSU plays four more games before the next off week begins on Oct. 19. Then the season closes with six straight games, including the season finale against Michigan in the annual rivalry game.
