Is Landman set in the same world?

Taylor Sheridan fans are starting to wonder if his upcoming series Farmer will be part of the Yellowstone universe. The famed writer and producer has directed several critically acclaimed hits over the years, some of which are speculated to be extensions of his biggest show, the 2018 neo-Western drama Yellowstone.

Here’s everything we know about Sheridan’s upcoming drama series Landman and its possible Yellowstone connection.

Are Taylor Sheridan’s Landman and Yellowstone related?

Taylor Sheridan and other Landman creators have not confirmed the series’ connection to Yellowstone.

The plot details of the series are still being kept under wraps, with an expected release later this year on November 17, 2024. A brief synopsis states that it will focus on the cutthroat world of Texas’ oil industry billionaires. While the creators have not confirmed the series’ connection to Yellowstone, there is potential for a future merger. This is because both series are set in modern-day West Texas. Fans will have to wait and see if this theory comes to fruition.

Landman is based on Christian Wallace’s Boomtown podcast, which focuses on the Permian Basin, the country’s highest-producing oil field. The series will star Billy Bob Thornton and delve into the turbulent world of oil billionaires and their influence on geopolitics. Paramount Plus has announced that the show’s first season will have a total of 10 episodes.

Yellowstone, on the other hand, is currently in its fifth season. It is a television darling that has received rave reviews since its premiere on June 20, 2018. The series follows the eponymous Montana ranch run by the Dutton family, and delves into the family drama and power dynamics at the heart of the story.
