In its first ACC game, Stanford beats Syracuse with FG on the final play

Stanford’s first ACC game will not soon be forgotten.

After host Syracuse scored a go-ahead touchdown late in the fourth quarter, Stanford responded with a drive that ended with Emmet Kenney hitting a 39-yard field goal as time expired, giving the Cardinals a 26-24 victory.

Stanford improved to 2-1, 1-0. Syracuse went to 2-1, 1-1.

The big blow in Stanford’s winning drive came when Ashton Daniels connected with Elic Ayomanor for 27 yards on fourth-and-9 from the Syracuse 45-yard line.

The pass play led to Kenney’s go-ahead field goal.

Daniels completed 23 of 38 passes for 178 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.
