Husker Volleyball hosts #2 Stanford in Lincoln on Wednesday

LINCOLN, Neb. (Nebraska Athletics Press Release/KOLN) – Call it the “Final Four Week” for the Huskers.

At least that’s what Nebraska Volleyball (8-1) is calling it, as the Big Red faces two top-five teams this week.

On Wednesday night, it’s the second-best Cardinal of Stanford (7-0). The game starts at 7 p.m. at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. The game will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network and the Huskers Radio Network.

“Stanford has one of the best offenses in the country. The Cardinal rank fourth in hitting percentage (.313), fifth in kills per set (14.58) and fifth in assists per set (13.58).”

Stanford is led by forwards Elia Rubin and Ipar Kurt, with contributions on multiple fronts from Jordyn Harvey. Setter Kami Miner, a two-time first-team All-American, is also a key player.

The Cardinal lead the all-time series against Nebraska, 12-7, including a perfect 3-0 record at the Devaney Center. However, the Huskers are looking to extend their winning streak against Stanford to two games after winning last year’s game in California, 3-1.

After Wednesday night’s game, Nebraska will travel back to Louisville for the second time this year. The Huskers will take on the fourth-place Cardinals (7-1) at the KFC Yum! Center in front of an expected crowd of 10,000 or more. That game will air on ABC at 11:30 Central. The last time the Big Red went to the KFC Yum! Center was in August for the AVCA First Serve Showcase. Nebraska defeated Kentucky 3-1 in that game.
