Hurricane Milton live updates: Florida braced as storm to make landfall soon | Hurricane Milton

Important events

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis provided updates on Hurricane Milton as the storm begins to make landfall south of Tampa.

“There have already been 116 tornado warnings, with 19 confirmed touchdowns across the state, nine flash flood warnings and four additional flood warnings, with many more to come,” he said.

To address fuel shortages — more than 60% of gas stations in Tampa and St. Petersburg were out of fuel as of Wednesday afternoon, according to GasBuddy analysts — he added: “When the ports reopen, Florida Highway Patrol will be ready to escort fuel trucks to gas stations so that people have access to fuel when they return home.

“Right now it’s too dangerous to evaluate safely, so you have to stand down,” he said.
