The fourth and final ATP Grand Slam of the year has arrived; the 2024 US Open has officially begun in Queens.

The 2023 men’s singles champion Novak Djokovic returns to defend his title just weeks after taking home Olympic gold; if he repeats at this year’s US Open, he will win a record 25 Grand Slam singles titles. Djokovic is the second seed at the bottom of the men’s singles draw, while the No. 1 seed is Jannick Sinner, who avoided a suspension despite testing positive for doping.

It’s been 21 years since an American has won a Grand Slam, but No. 13 Ben Shelton could change that. The 21-year-old, who reached last year’s semifinals with a 149 mph serve, is seen as the US’s top contender to break the Grand Slam drought.

In the women’s event, reigning champion Coco Gauff is one to watch, seeded third; Iga Swiatek is ranked No. 1 and Aryna Sabalenka is ranked No. 2.
