How many 2024 VMAs did Taylor Swift win last night?

play

It must be exhausting to cheer for anyone other than Taylor Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards, as the pop superstar continues to dominate.

Swift came out on top at the VMAs on Wednesday, taking home the most statues with seven. He also broke the record for most wins for a solo artist in history with 30.

The night was marked by major wins for the singer, starting with her award for Best Collaboration for “Fortnight,” the song “Tortured Poets Department” with Post Malone. Malone joined Swift onstage, and she honored him as “everyone in music’s favorite person” to work with.

At the end of the night, Swift took home the top prize for video of the year for “Fortnight.” She holds the record for most wins in that category with five, including three consecutive wins since 2022, for “Bad Blood,” “You Need to Calm Down,” “All Too Well,” “Anti-Hero,” and “Fortnight.”

Did Taylor Swift Announce ‘Reputation (Taylor’s Version)’ at the VMAs?

Swifties with a tendency toward clowning were on the edge of their seats waiting for the singer to make an onstage announcement — possibly the long-awaited release date for “Reputation (Taylor’s Version).” But Swift didn’t announce “Reputation” or anything else, so the wait for her next re-recorded album continues.

However, theories that she would drop the news weren’t all that unrealistic, as Swift’s last two albums featuring all-new material were both announced during awards shows: “The Tortured Poets Department” at the 2024 Grammys and “Midnights” at the 2022 VMAs. The singer received some criticism for announcing “Tortured Poets” at the Grammys, with some critics claiming that she overshadowed the other artists and their wins that night.

Still, Swift gave her fans something to hold on to in her final speech of the night, with a nod to her boyfriend Travis Kelce. She blew the roof off the UBS Arena on Long Island, sending fans screaming.

“When I would finish a take and I would say cut, and we would be done with that take, I would always hear someone cheering and going ‘woo!’ from the other side of the studio where we were recording it,” Swift said. “And that person was my boyfriend, Travis. Everything that man touches turns to happiness and joy and magic.”
