Giants WR Malik Nabers makes two spectacular catches on TD drive

CLEVELAND — New York Giants rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers’ second career touchdown came on a dramatic, leaping, spinning catch with 1:44 left in the second quarter against the Cleveland Browns at Huntington Bank Field.

The 3-yard touchdown gave New York a 14-7 lead at the end of the first half.

Nabers was running across the back of the left end zone when he jumped to make the grab. He did all this while rotating his body and planting his right foot as his body fell out of the end zone. After a brief review, it was confirmed that his second foot landed in front of his hand.

It was Nabers’ second highlight grab of the drive. He made a leaping grab over the head of cornerback Martin Emerson Jr. just four plays earlier. The catch went 28 yards and saw Nabers rip the ball away from Emerson, right on the left sideline.

The No. 6 overall pick in this year’s draft added a second touchdown grab with 11 seconds left in the first half, which came with Nabers, lined up on the left side, dragging it across the back of the end zone for the 5-yard score that gave the Giants a 21-7 lead going into halftime.

The rookie wide receiver had six catches for 66 yards and two touchdowns in the first half.
