Florida State Collapses

After an undefeated regular season in 2023 and a 10th-place preseason finish, the Seminoles have fallen out of the top 25. Florida State took center stage in Week 0’s game against Georgia Tech in Dublin, Ireland, but a Yellow Jackets walk-off field goal handed the Seminoles only their second loss since 2022.

Then came Week 2 — a chance for the Seminoles to get back on track at home against a Boston College team projected to finish in the bottom five of the ACC media poll. But Bill O’Brien had his new team more than prepared, as the Eagles jumped out to an early 14-0 lead en route to a 28-13 victory in Tallahassee.

The Seminoles are already 0-2 in the ACC and Mike Norvell’s team will have an uphill battle the rest of the season to get back in the running for a spot in the College Football Playoffs.

USC celebration vs LSU

No. 13 Southern California makes the move of the week, moving up 10 spots after a 27-20 win over then-No. 13 LSU. Trojan quarterback Miller Moss shined, going 27 for 36 with 378 yards and a touchdown in the win.

Miami (Fla.) also made some moves after its convincing 41-17 win over Florida in the Swamp. The Hurricanes jumped from No. 19 to No. 12 after Cam Ward put on a show in Gainesville. Finally, Notre Dame cracks the top five after limiting the Aggies to just 13 points in College Station.

📉 Fallers

As previously mentioned, Florida State had the biggest fall. But outside of the Seminoles, Clemson nearly joined them, dropping 11 spots to No. 25 after a 34-3 loss to No. 1 Georgia.

LSU drops five spots to No. 18 after its game with Southern California. Finally, after a No. 3 preseason ranking, Oregon drops to No. 7 after struggling to beat Idaho in Eugene.

No. 3 Texas vs. No. 10 Michigan headlines Week 2 action. This is just the second time in history that these two historic programs have faced off. Their only other matchup came in the 2005 Rose Bowl, where the Vince Young-led Longhorns defeated the Wolverines 38-37 in Pasadena, California.
