Garth Brooks took the stage hours after being accused of sexual assault and battery by a former hairstylist and makeup artist.

“If there was ever a night I really needed this, TONIGHT was that night!” Brooks, 62, captioned an Instagram post shared in the early hours of Friday, October 4. “Thank you for my life!!!!! love, g.”

The photo showed Brooks on stage in front of a large crowd at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The concert was part of the country singer’s concert Garth Brooks/Plus ONE residency at the site, which is still planned until the end of the year in 2025.

On Thursday, October 3, news broke that a woman – also referred to as “Jane Roe” – had filed a lawsuit against Brooks, claiming he raped her during a work trip in 2019. According to the filing, the alleged incident occurred when the woman worked with Brooks and his wife. Trisha Jaarwood.

She further alleged that Brooks would make “repeated comments” about “having a threesome” with the accuser and Yearwood, 60. The accuser also alleged that Brooks sent her several sexually explicit text messages.

Brooks initially denied the accuser’s claims in an anonymous complaint filed last month in Mississippi.

“Defendant’s allegations are untrue,” the filing read in part, according to court documents obtained by Us Weekly. “Defendant is, however, well aware of the substantial, irreparable harm that such false allegations would cause to Plaintiff’s well-deserved reputation as a decent and caring person, together with the inevitable damage to his family and the irreparable damage to his career and livelihood that would result if she made good on her threat to ‘publicly file’ her fabricated lawsuit.”

The singer further denied the allegations made by “Jane Roe” in a statement shared with Us on Thursday.

“Over the past two months, I have been harassed endlessly with threats, lies and tragic stories about what my future would be if I did not write a multi-million dollar check. It was like waving a loaded gun in my face,” the statement said. “Hush money, no matter how much or how little it is, is still hush money. In my eyes, this means admitting to behavior that I am not capable of: ugly acts that no human being should ever do to another.”

The singer continued: “We filed suit against this individual almost a month ago to speak out against extortion and defamation of character. We submitted it anonymously, in the interest of the families on both sides. I want to play music tonight. I want to continue our good deeds in the future. It breaks my heart that these wonderful things are now up for debate. I trust the system, I am not afraid of the truth, and I am not the man they have portrayed me to be.”
