Five former champions battle for PBA East Region title in York

Five former champions are among the 90 bowlers from nine states expected to compete this weekend in the Professional Bowlers Association Bowlers Supply/Storm Open at Colony Park Lanes North.

Anthony Pepe, a southpaw from Long Island, NY, has won twice in York. He was the winner in 2014 and 2017. Pepe defeated Danny Wiseman in 2014 and BJ Moore in 2017.

Lefty Anthony Neuer of Lewisburg captured the tournament title in 2019 at just 17 years old. He was the youngest bowler in the field of 108. He defeated Pepe in the championship match.

Thomas Coco of Beacon, NY, won his first PBA East Region title in 2016. The left-handed boxer defeated PBA veteran Brad Angelo in the championship match.

Two years later, Darren Andretta of Wantagh, NY, defeated Angelo to capture his second PBA East Region title.

Rick Graham, a local favorite from Elizabethtown, won the tournament for his family in 2015, defeating Rusty Thomsen.

Early local entrants include Adam Baer, ​​Ben Lamb and Scott Schnur Jr. The weekend begins with a pro-am event at 7 p.m. on Friday. PBA bowlers play eight qualifying matches on Saturday. Squad A starts at 8 a.m. and Squad B starts at 2:30 p.m. The top 16 bowlers advance to Sunday. The format is determined by the number of entrants.

First place is expected to pay $3,000. The tournament is open to spectators and there is no fee to attend.
