First Weather Warning Days for Dangerous Heat in Phoenix Area

PHOENIX (AZFamilie) — As September begins, we are declaring First Alert Days for dangerous heat from Wednesday through Friday.

Over the weekend, the National Weather Service issued an extreme heat warning for much of the state, from Wednesday morning through Friday evening.

Temperatures during this period reach dangerous levels, with some places in the valley experiencing temperatures of up to 46 degrees Celsius.

Take extra precautions with school children and bring extra water and ice for lunch. Adjust gym and recess times to be outdoors and take plenty of cool shaded breaks if working outside.

The chance of rain in the valley is quite small, as this high pressure ridge dominates our weather pattern. The ridge should weaken somewhat by the weekend, with highs below 110.
