Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever secured a crucial 84-79 victory over the Atlanta Dream on Monday as the two teams battle for a spot in the playoffs.

Clark left the game briefly after spraining her ankle, but returned to the court in the second quarter and finished with 19 points, seven assists and seven rebounds. She also made four three-pointers to tie the WNBA rookie record for three-pointers made in a season.

Clark’s backcourt opponent, Kelsey Mitchell, led Indiana with 29 points and seven rebounds, while Aliyah Boston had 14 points and 11 rebounds.

After the win, fans were very excited about Clark and the Fever’s chances in the playoffs as the season draws to a close.

With the win, the Fever improved to 14-17, surpassing their win total from a season ago. Indiana’s 14 wins are the most since the 2016 season when it ended at 17-17, the same year the Fever made their last playoff appearance.

The Dream currently sit ninth in the WNBA standings, while the Fever are seventh, so Atlanta was hoping for a crucial win to pull ahead. Meanwhile, Indiana is closing in on the sixth-seeded Phoenix Mercury. If the Fever can put together a good run, they could improve their playoff standings even further.
