Anna Sorokin convinced hotels, banks and even her friends that she was a German heiress, Anna Delvey, until a New York judge exposed her bluff.

Now she must convince the judges of one of the biggest shows in America that she can dance.

The con artist was announced – under her false name – as a member of Season 33 Dancing with the stars next to stars like Beverly Hills, 90210 former student Tori Spelling, former NBA player Dwight Howard and The Bachelors Jenn Tran.

Delvey, as she will be called on the show, will be paired with debuting professional dancer Ezra Sosa.

The 33-year-old was arrested in 2017 and accused of defrauding institutions of more than $250,000 to fund the lavish lifestyle she enjoyed by posing as the daughter of a German oil entrepreneur. She was convicted in 2019 on charges including grand larceny and theft and sentenced to four to 12 years in prison.

She was only confirmed as a celebrity contestant after she was given a special deal by authorities to travel to Los Angeles to film the series. She has been under house arrest from her New York home since her release from prison in February 2021.

The German was detained by immigration authorities for overstaying her visa after leaving prison. She spent more than a year in ICE custody before being released to plead her case while confined at home.

Under her current circumstances, she was only allowed to travel within a 70-mile radius of New York’s five boroughs.

The fake heiress will also wear an unwanted accessory: an ankle bracelet required to monitor her movements as part of her house arrest.

Her fame only grew after her story got the Netflix treatment in the hit series Inventing Anna.

Delvey was announced as part of the Dancing with the stars line-up on wednesday Good morning America.
