‘Everyone Watches Women’s Sports’: When Simone Biles Met Caitlin Clark

Some of the biggest names in American women’s sports gathered in Indianapolis on Wednesday to watch a thrilling match between the WNBA’s Indiana Fever and the Connecticut Sun.

Legendary gymnast Simone Biles and track star Gabby Thomas — who both won gold medals for Team USA in their respective sports at the Paris Olympics — were among those in attendance at the game, cheering on Fever rookie phenom Caitlin Clark. Clark helped the Fever to an 84-80 victory after pouring in 19 points in the game, including three 3-point shots, which tied the WNBA rookie record for most 3-pointers made in a season.

After the game, Biles and Thomas posed for a photo with Clark and her teammates, with the Fever’s X/Twitter account capturing the moment of meeting and acknowledging how “ecstatic” the players were to meet the Olympians.

“They were so excited. Oh my god. It’s like the guys normally just walk by and say, ‘Yo.’ But they were so excited. That was so cool,” Biles can be heard saying in the video after the team leaves.

Clark reposted the footage of herself smiling next to Biles and Thomas to her personal Instagram Story, captioning it, “Let me fangirl real quick.”

“EVERYONE IS WATCHING WOMEN’S SPORTS so I’m excited to go support! My first of many WNBA games,” Biles wrote in a X/Twitter repost from the Fever video. “So happy to be supporting! My first of many WNBA games.”
