Even Bronny is throwing shade at Darvin Ham in some way this preseason

While there have been a lot of interesting statements and developments to keep an eye on during the preseason, one thing is abundantly clear: the Lakers really didn’t like Darvin Ham.

A side effect of changing coaching staffs and keeping virtually every player is that every quote is dissected and compared to last season. But perhaps the funniest person offered a little shade to Ham on Friday.

After shooting prior to the preseason opener, Bronny was asked about his first impressions of new head coach JJ Redick. To his credit, his response felt sincere, without any malicious intent, but he produced the funniest soundbite yet this preseason.

Gee, guys. I wonder where Bronny heard that the atmosphere wasn’t great last season. Can anyone think of a player on last year’s roster that Bronny may have interacted with during the season? Does anyone come to mind?

It sure looks like Bronny accidentally let some dinner conversations slip last year!

He probably doesn’t have much to worry about, as the Lakers have taken turns throwing shade at Ham this preseason, most of it during Media Day. In almost every scrum or interview he’s had this preseason, D’Angelo Russell has said something that could quite easily be construed as a bit of shade at Ham, including repeatedly on Media Day.

Even Cam Reddish, who most felt like he was benefiting from some favoritism from Ham, threw shade at him and talked about how detailed the team is this season.

To some extent, fans may be looking for something that isn’t there with comments. There have been a few moments where a quote could quite easily be explained away as not being a joke about Ham.

Unfortunately for Bronny, this is not the case. There is nothing about his quote that can be explained away as no shade. It’s one thing that it came from someone on the team, but it came from LeBron’s son? Chefs kiss.

Welcome to the competition, rook!
