Richard Gadd won multiple Emmys on Sunday and had to give multiple speeches afterwards.

But the one that hit the hardest was probably the Baby reindeer the creator’s speech for winning the award for Best Screenplay for a Limited Series, Anthology, or Movie, in which he gave a message of encouragement and hope to anyone going through a difficult time.

“Look, 10 years ago I was at my wits’ end, I never, ever thought I would get my life back,” Gadd said. “I never, ever thought I could recover from what had happened to me and get myself back on my feet. And now here I am, a little over a decade later, and I’ve won one of the biggest writing awards on television.

“I don’t mean that in an arrogant way, I mean that as an encouragement to anyone who’s struggling right now to keep going. I don’t know much about this life, I don’t know why we’re here, none of that. But I do know that nothing lasts forever. And no matter how bad it gets, it always gets better. So if you’re struggling, keep going, keep going, and I promise you, everything will be okay.”
