Electropop king Hayden James to perform at HoopsFest as Boombox takes over RAC Arena

One side of the RAC Arena will be transformed into a Boombox for multiple basketball games during HoopsFest, after world-famous DJ Hayden James was hired as a headliner.

James, who has more than half a billion streams across Spotify and Apple Music, will help launch the basketball weekend in Perth, which will see all NBL and WNBL teams participate.

He will DJ at the NBL Grand Final Replay between Tasmania JackJumpers and Melbourne United on September 19 and will help close the event on September 22.

James will be performing sets from his new album on the huge 30m Boombox and fans can purchase tickets to watch the games from the fully catered upper deck or in front on the ground floor.

“Every time I play in Perth there is always an amazing energy! I’m really looking forward to being a part of the first ever HoopsFest and showcasing some of my new music from my upcoming album ‘We Could Be Love’ by the Boombox,” said James.

“It’s a great design. It’s going to be a cool experience to watch the game from the lower bowl or the upper deck and then we’re going to put on a great show for the fans.

“I’m a basketball fan and it’s great to see the talent coming in and out of the league over the years. I’m looking forward to the 24/25 season.”

The NBL wants Hoopsfest to be more than just the games, with the popular Sneakerland event and a Fan Zone as an added bonus.

During the first basketball event, the under-18 club championships will also be played.
