CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Due to extreme heat, several schools were closed early on Monday.

The Cedar Rapids Community School District has announced that it will dismiss its middle and high school students at 10:50 AM. Elementary students will be dismissed at 11:50 AM.

The school district also said that lunch will be served to students before school, but urged parents to provide their students with a bottle of water to help them stay hydrated.

Any updates regarding secondary school practices will be communicated directly by your child’s school.

Additionally, all schools in the Dubuque Community School District will dismiss two hours early on Monday, August 26 and Tuesday, August 27. Preschool on Tuesday afternoon has been canceled.
