‘DWTS’ Proponent Artem Chigvintsev Arrested on Suspicion of Domestic Abuse

Artem Chigvintsev, a professional dancer on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars,” was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, according to Napa County jail records.

The 42-year-old was arrested around 10 a.m. Thursday and booked with suspected battery on a spouse, domestic partner or co-parent in a domestic violence incident, jail records show.

His bail was set at $25,000.

Chigvintsev is married to former WWE wrestler Nikki Garcia (formerly Bella); however, it has not been specified whether she was the alleged victim.

The couple, who live in Napa, have a 4-year-old son, Matteo. Garcia and her twin sister own a wine brand, Bonita Bonita, and opened a tasting room in downtown Napa last May.

Chigvintsev, originally from Russia, appeared on 12 seasons of “Dancing with the Stars.” He won the Mirrorball Trophy in Season 29 with “Bachelorette” alum Kaitlyn Bristowe.

Chigvintsev and Garcia first competed as a duo on season 25 of “Dancing with the Stars” in 2017 — when she was still engaged to John Cena (the couple split a year later) — and married in August 2022.

The couple celebrated their wedding anniversary on social media, just days before Chigvintsev’s arrest.

“I will never forget where I was when I asked Jesus about Artem. Talking to Him and God. How my feelings felt too fast. It all felt too fast,” Garcia wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, sharing video clips from their wedding. “And then this song (‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’) came on. And that’s when I knew I was falling in love with him and it was all meant to be. 🙏🏼✨.”

In his post, Chingvinstev wrote: “Happy birthday my love, I can’t see my life without you. You are my everything.”

ABC, the network that airs “Dancing with the Stars,” declined to comment on Chigvintsev’s arrest.
