    Drake, Northern Iowa football teams post wins on Saturday

    Luke Bailey’s 14-yard touchdown pass to Trey Radocha in overtime gave the Drake football team a surprise 35-32 victory over Eastern Washington on Saturday night.

    Bailey passed for 380 yards, completing 28 of his 48 throws. He had two touchdown passes and no interceptions.

    Mitchell January and Radocha led Drake with 101 receiving yards apiece. Taj Hughes had 11 catches for 83 yards.

    Sean Allison led the Bulldogs (1-0) with 15 tackles. Shane Dunning punted three times for an average of 40 yards.

    The teams played in humid conditions, with temperatures reaching 35 degrees at kick-off.

    The Bulldogs have this week off and then travel to nationally ranked South Dakota on September 21.

    UNI defeats St. Thomas: A 10-yard touchdown run from Amauri Pesek-Hickson with 2:57 left gave Northern Iowa (2-0) a win at St. Thomas (Minn.) on Saturday.

    Tye Edwards led UNI with 141 rushing yards on 15 carries. Pesek-Hickson finished with 86 yards on 13 carries.
