Donald Trump Unleashes All-Caps Social Tirade: ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT’

Donald Trump greeted Sunday morning with a series of all-caps tirades about Taylor Swift, the New York Times and his favorite target of all, rival Kamala Harris. In a Truth Social post, Trump wrote, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!”

Trump’s post caused “I HATE DONALD TRUMP” to trend on X, despite it being posted on an entirely different social network, and it prompted numerous responses. Former Obama speechwriter Jon Favreau, who has often noted his wife Emily’s status as a devoted Swiftie, referenced a Swift song and tweeted in response, “The shortest man who ever lived.”

Flavor Flav also joined in the conversation, noting, “I LOVE TAYLOR SWIFT!!”

Trump also directed his ire at the New York Times, for which he adopted his favorite nickname and which he described as “failing.” Data published by Statista suggests that the Times has enjoyed steady growth in terms of subscriptions, particularly in paid digital subscribers, a number that surpassed 10 million in the second quarter of 2024.

Trump found time this weekend morning to take another jab at “Comrade Kamala” and taxes. He wrote: “All the rich, job-creating people who support Comrade Kamala Harris, you are STUPID. She is pushing for an UNKNOWN CAPITAL GAINS TAX. If this tax is actually implemented, it will guarantee a 1929-style depression. Maybe even thinking about it would be a disaster – but at least the appraisers and accountants would do well!”

Harris’ plan to tax unrealized taxable gains is unlikely to pass Congress, and as Mother Jones reported this month, even if it does, it would only affect people with an extra $100 million sitting around. Previous attempts to pass similar plans have also been pushed by President Joe Biden, Rep. Barbara Lee, and Sens. Elizabeth Warren, Ron Wyden, and Bernie Sanders.

It’s unclear what specifically fueled Trump’s distaste for Swift, but it’s likely her support for the Harris-Walz campaign and the subsequent fivefold increase in voter registrations this week. And it seems unlikely that the voters who registered based on her social media post will actually vote for Trump.

The Harris-Walz campaign responded in an email to supporters titled “Trump’s Bad Week (Taylor’s Version).” The campaign wrote in part: “We’re pretty confident it’s safe (& sane) to say Donald Trump’s bad week has gotten him all messed up.”

“Mr. Not-Quite-Good spent this week processing his feelings, complaining about his Champagne Problems, and spending absolutely no time addressing the problems facing the American people.”

“His gibberish, shouting and constant conspiracy theories have many wondering if The Man is ‘too emotional’ to be president.”

“Call it what you will, but it’s nothing new to the smallest man who ever lived.”
