Former President Donald Trump called former Republican Vice President Dick Cheney “an irrelevant RINO” after Cheney endorsed Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential race.

In a post on Truth Social on Friday night, Trump responded to Cheney’s earlier announcement by saying, “Dick Cheney is an irrelevant RINO, along with his daughter, who lost by the largest margin in the history of a congressional election!” Liz Cheney lost her 2022 Republican primary in Wyoming to Trump-backed candidate Rep. Harriet Hageman. Liz served in Congress from 2017 to 2023. She also announced her support for Harris earlier this week.

The former president went on to call Dick Cheney, who served in the Bush administration, “the king of endless, senseless wars, wasting lives and trillions of dollars, just like Comrade Kamala Harris. I am the President of Peace, and only I will stop World War III!”

In his statement Friday, Dick Cheney said, in part: “In our country’s 248-year history, there has never been anyone who has posed a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump.”

Meanwhile, Trump has repeatedly clashed with Liz Cheney since she served on the House Select Committee charged with investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, riots at the U.S. Capitol. The committee ultimately recommended that the Justice Department investigate Trump for his actions in connection with the attacks.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
