Dolphins’ Raheem Mostert Out for TNF; De’Von Achane Calls Out During Play

MIAMI — Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert will not play in Thursday night’s game against the Buffalo Bills, coach Mike McDaniel announced Wednesday. The team will be without its leading rusher from last season.

Mostert reportedly missed all of the Dolphins’ practices this week due to a chest injury. The team did not practice on Monday and held short practices on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Running back De’Von Achane also missed Monday and Tuesday’s practices with an ankle injury, but returned to the training field on Wednesday.

Regarding Achane’s availability for Thursday’s match, McDaniel said: “We’ll see.”

Achane was officially listed as questionable for the game by the Dolphins. He was a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice, the team said.

Both players suffered injuries during the Dolphins’ 20-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1. Mostert recorded 19 total yards on eight touches, while Achane finished with 100 total yards on 17 touches.

According to McDaniel, the short week has impacted the training sessions his players have had, as the team normally waits until Thursday to hold a workout with protective gear during a normal week.

Achane ran for 157 yards and three touchdowns in two games against the Bills last season. If he can’t play, veteran Jeff Wilson Jr. and rookie Jaylen Wright, a fourth-round pick, are in the running to man the Dolphins’ defense against their division rivals.

Wright didn’t play in Week 1, but Wilson led the team with 26 rushing yards on five carries.
