Former Tata Group chairman Ratan Tata passed away on Wednesday night. Several celebrities from the Bollywood and film industries paid tribute to him on social media.

Diljit Dosanjh is currently in Europe in the middle of his Dil-Luminati World Tour. The singer, who recently performed in Britain, is now in Germany, where he performed hours after the death of Indian industrialist Ratan Tata on Tuesday evening. In a heartwarming gesture, Diljit paused his concert and paid tribute to the industry titan. A video of him talking about Tata from the stage has now gone viral.

Diljit Dosanjh on Ratan Tata

A video of Diljit pausing his singing on stage to talk about the life and death of Ratan Tata has been widely shared on social media. In the video, the singer addresses the audience in Punjabi and Hindi and says, “You all know Ratan Tata. He has passed away and I pay tribute to him. I felt it necessary to take his name today because he spent his entire life worked hard. No matter how many times I read or heard about him, I don’t remember him speaking ill of anyone. He always worked hard, did good work and helped people.”

Speaking about the lessons from the life of late Ratan Tata, Diljit adds, “Yahi zindagi hai (This is life). If we can learn anything from his life, it is that we should work hard, think well and help others. Bedaag apni life jee ke gaye woh (He lived his life without blemish).”

Diljit has been on tour for a few weeks now, performing in the US and Europe. He will soon be bringing his Dil-Luminati Tour to India, starting with two back-to-back shows in Delhi on October 26 and 27. The singer will then perform in six Indian cities throughout the month of December.

Death of Ratan Tata

Ratan Tata, who was chairman of the Tata Group for over two decades, breathed his last at Breach Candy Hospital in South Mumbai on Wednesday at 11.30 pm. A Padma Vibhushan recipient, Tata, was in the intensive care unit in the hospital since Monday.
