Derrick Henry’s stunning 87-yard touchdown run makes Ravens history

It took just one offensive play for the Baltimore Ravens to find the end zone against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night, making franchise history.

After forcing Josh Allen and the Bills’ red-hot offense to punt on the game’s first drive, Lamar Jackson and his Ravens offense set up from their own 13-yard line.

On the first snap, Jackson turned and handed it to his star running back Derrick Henry and he immediately saw a gap on the right side of the line that he liked.

Thanks to a perfect block from full-back Patrick Ricard, Henry quickly reached the second level and saw the light of day as he turned on the burners on the right.

As Bills defenders chased him, Henry kept pace and looked at the video board in front of him to see where the Buffalo players were. But they couldn’t catch up, as Henry ran into the end zone for an 87-yard touchdown on the first play of the scrimmage for the Ravens on their home field.

Henry, who came into this game with the most rushing touchdowns in the league four through three games, not only put his team up 7-0, but he made Ravens history with the longest run in franchise history at 87 yards.

“King Henry” was a huge boost for Baltimore this offseason, as the former Tennessee Titans running back entered the free agent market as one of the top options for any team to bid on.

Henry ultimately signed a two-year contract worth up to $16 million with Baltimore.

With Jackson already being such a rushing threat when he has the ball in his hands, Henry has been as advertised despite the Ravens coming into this game with a 1-2 record for the year.
