The emphasis was on getting the running game going Colorado heading into Saturday’s game against UCF. So far, so good.

The Buffaloes entered the game ranked near the bottom of the FBS with just 68.8 rushing yards per game. However, they have already put up 59 yards on the ground with 11 minutes left in the second quarter against the Knights while leading 21-7.

Colorado coach Deion Sanders spoke on the FOX broadcast after the first quarter about how the improved running game has opened things up through the air.

“Now we’re two-dimensional,” Sanders said. “We can run the ball as well as throw it, and that’s a threat. Yet we can’t turn the ball over and we can’t give up explosions. We knew first down, shot down. We said that on the sidelines and they still came up big.

The Buffaloes scored some big runs Micah Welch to set up their first touchdown of the opening quarter. Later to open the second, Dallan Hayden broke away for a 14-yard score.

After throwing an interception on the first drive, Colorado scored on the next three. Shedeur Sanders is 14 of 17 passing for 131 yards and two touchdowns.

Deion Sanders knows that to continue the success, he will need the offensive line to continue playing well. He likes what he’s seen so far and shared his pregame post.

“Physicality, toughness, aggressiveness,” he said. “We told them that the first two series will be important early on. That is the foundation you lay for the rest of the game.”

Colorado currently leads UCF by a score of 21-7 with about eight minutes left before halftime.
