Dallas Cowboys and QB Dak Prescott agree to $240M contract

According to multiple sources, the Dallas Cowboys and quarterback Dak Prescott have agreed to a four-year, $240 million contract, making him the highest-paid player in NFL history.

The deal includes $231 million in guaranteed money. ESPN first reported the signing.

Prescott was set to enter the final year of his current contract. The long, drawn-out negotiations ended with him securing the largest contract in league history, worth $60 million per season.

Just hours after the deal was completed, Prescott led his team to a 33-17 victory over the Cleveland Browns.

Prescott, 31, was a fourth-round pick in the 2016 NFL draft. He is entering his ninth season in the NFL, all with the Cowboys. He has a 73-41 record but is just 2-5 in the postseason.

Last season, Prescott set career highs in completions (410) and touchdowns (36), throwing for 4,516 yards with just nine interceptions. He led Dallas to a 12-5 record, but the Cowboys lost at home in the first round of the playoffs to the Green Bay Packers.

Prescott is the Cowboys’ second key offensive player to sign a new contract after extensive negotiations this offseason, joining their top receiver, CeeDee Lamb. Both Prescott and Lamb are now signed through 2028.

The Cowboys play the Cleveland Browns in Week 1 in their season opener.
