Alabama Football’s next SEC assignment brings the Crimson Tide to Nashville, Tennessee.

No. 2 Alabama will face Vanderbilt for the third time in 10 years at FirstBank Stadium on the SEC Network on Saturday at 3:15 p.m. The Crimson Tide hasn’t played a road game against the Commodores since September 23, 2017, when Alabama defeated Vanderbilt 59-0.

Here’s a look at the history between Alabama and Vanderbilt before Saturday’s game.

Alabama has historically dominated Vanderbilt.

The Crimson Tide’s 60 wins against the Commodores are the second-most against any SEC program Alabama has faced. Alabama has 86 wins against Mississippi State.

Excluding three vacated or forfeit wins by Alabama in 1993, 2006 and 2007, Vanderbilt has 17 wins against the Crimson Tide since their first meeting in 1903. The Commodores defeated Alabama five straight times from 1903 to 1919 before the Crimson’s first victory Tide in 1920. .

When was Vanderbilt’s last win against Alabama?

Vanderbilt’s most recent outright win against Alabama was one of the Crimson Tide’s six losses in the 1984 season.

The Commodores ended a 26-game winning streak for Alabama at home, defeating the Crimson Tide 30-21. Alabama held a 10-9 halftime lead, but Vanderbilt used 200 yards of offense in the second half, scoring from quarterback Kurt Page and running back Carl Woods to secure the victory in Tuscaloosa.

Alabama vs. Vanderbilt: When was the Crimson Tide’s last loss to the Commodores?

Alabama’s most recent loss to Vanderbilt in Nashville came in the 1969 season, when the Crimson Tide finished 6-5 overall.

The Commodores were the Crimson Tide’s first loss of the season after wins against Virginia Tech, Southern Miss and Ole Miss. Vanderbilt secured the 14-10 win against Alabama with a fourth-quarter touchdown from Watson Brown against Jim Cunningham.
