CD.

Lamb just received a four-year, $136 million contract extension, with $100 million guaranteed.

It’s the second-largest contract in the NFL other than for a quarterback.

And what does that mean?

Well, that means if your plan for the demise of the Dallas Cowboys was based in part on making contract issues a topic of conversation during the regular season, that plan has now taken a huge hit.

Let’s be honest: of the three contracts we keep talking about, CD, Micah Parsons, and Dak Prescott, this was the easiest to decide. There’s been a huge amount of money going to wide receivers this year, and it’s easier to figure out how to fit that position into the current economics of the NFL.

CD is actually the attack.

If you look at the way the Cowboys went about it last year, it was DA to CD and then everything else was secondary this offseason.

They haven’t really done anything to improve the running game.

They haven’t done much to develop or change their attack.

So they’ve told you they need CD and D to keep performing at their best if they want to win 12 games.

Anyway, the fact that CD is one of the best made this an easy ending.

When will we learn our lesson?

How many years in a row?

Are we going to have wild speculative conversations about the Dallas Cowboys’ contracts, only to see those contracts not resolved until 11 or 10 a.m.?

This is what happens every time.

And as much as we’d like to dwell on Jerry Jones’ claim that he’d go all in, sometimes “all in” just means keeping the people you need to be the best team you can be.

This is an important first step in that direction.

And while we still have many more conversations to be had about the other two superstars and what their financial futures will be, we can rest easy knowing that one of the best will be wearing the star on his helmet for years to come.
