Colorado, Deion Sanders at CSU: Live updates, highlights, score

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Fans and former players of the Colorado Buffaloes have always had a bit of a cavalier attitude toward in-state rival Colorado State.

Whether rightly or wrongly, Colorado State is generally viewed as a stepbrother of sorts, where students often go as a second choice after being rejected from CU.

But now comes an unusual threat to that air of superiority – a rare football game between the Buffaloes and Rams on Colorado State’s home field. Today’s 7:30 p.m. game on CBS will mark the first time since 1996 that the Buffs have agreed to play in Fort Collins – a 25-game stretch that has included 19 neutral-site games in Denver and five on Colorado State’s campus in Boulder.

The game also comes at a critical time for Colorado coach Deion Sanders, whose team is 1-1 after a 28-10 loss last week at rival Nebraska.

Another loss to another rival will raise major questions about his team’s progress in his second year as coach.

On the other hand, a win against the Rams (1-1) will show that the Buffs can bounce back from a painful loss and give the team momentum for next week’s Big 12 Conference games against Baylor.

A big issue for Colorado, once again, is whether the team’s offensive line and running game can handle the pressure from quarterback Shedeur Sanders, Deion’s son. He was sacked five times last week while the running game generated just 16 yards on 22 carries.

Stay up to date on the game as USA TODAY Sports shares highlights and updates.

What time is the Colorado-Colorado State game?

Colorado-Colorado State kicks off Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. ET at Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins.

How to watch Colorado-Colorado State

Colorado-Colorado State airs on CBS.

Deion Sanders released his team video this week, which features two Colorado State players making provocative comments in an interview with CBS Colorado. The interview was only released this week by CBS Colorado, but was actually filmed before the season on Aug. 14, as CSU confirmed to USA TODAY Sports.

In the interview, CSU quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi talked about the hype surrounding the Buffaloes with Sanders and how CSU nearly beat CU last year before losing in overtime, 43-35. The Rams had led by 11 points in the fourth quarter.

“It shows that the hype and the media only take you so far,” Fowler-Nicolosi said on August 14.

He also said, “We’ll see how far Instagram followers take them.”

CSU receiver Tory Horton said on Aug. 14 that the Rams want revenge.

He said, “We owe them one” and “We should have killed those guys.”

When asked about the comments on Thursday’s Colorado Football Coaches Show, Sanders said, “It makes it personal again.”

Sanders said he “obviously” showed the comments to his team. Last year’s game was also “personal,” as CSU coach Jay Norvell verbally responded to Sanders’ habit of wearing sunglasses and hats in the presence of “adults.”
