College football week 2 scores, fixtures: Boise State vs. Oregon

The first top 10 race of the season was a big defeat, but on Saturday we still got our first big surprise of the season.

No. 5 Notre Dame was crushed 16-14 at home by Northern Illinois. The Huskies went down for a 35-yard field goal by Kanon Woodill with just over 30 seconds left in the game, then blocked the Irish’s own attempt to win it as time expired.

In Saturday’s key showdown, No. 3 Texas left no doubt as to which team would take on No. 10 Michigan, defeating the Wolverines 31-12 in the Big House.

Elsewhere, No. 17 Kansas State survived Tulane after a controversial finish and No. 16 Oklahoma State came back to beat Arkansas in double overtime.

In the evening period, Colorado was overwhelmed by Nebraska in the first half, but eventually lost 28-10. Alabama, ranked 4, struggled for three quarters, but really got going late in the game against USF. Tennessee, ranked 14, defeated NC State, ranked 24, in a huge blowout.

You can follow the rest of the evening below.

Nebraska didn’t score in the second half, but it didn’t matter. Huskers ride dominant first half to lopsided victory.

  • Final Score: Oklahoma 16, Houston 12

The Sooners struggled throughout the game. To be fair, both teams performed well offensively. The Cougars outgained the Sooners 319-249 in total yards.

  • Shedeur Sanders goes to the locker room

The Colorado QB was escorted off the field toward the end of the game. There is no word on his status.

  • Final Score: Alabama 42, South Florida 16

The Crimson Tide came under fire in the second half, but managed to outscore the Bulls in the fourth quarter, scoring 28 points.

  • Colorado has waved the white flag. Shedeur Sanders’ night is over, as backup Ryan Staub takes over the QB position for the final minutes of this game.

Sanders took a lot of punishment, including 5 sacks

  • Hit Boise State!

The biggest game of the late night is in full swing in Eugene.

Boise State took an early 10-7 lead on Ashton Jeanty’s touchdown run.

  • Oklahoma adds 2 with a safety!

Houston got the ball on their own 5, but were immediately tackled for a big loss in their own endzone. Safety for OU, and it’s a 16-12 lead and Sooners ball with 1:42 to play.

  • Touchdown-Alabama

  • Alabama touchdown

It probably will for South Florida. The Crimson Tide found their rhythm and extended their lead to 12 points on a 43-yard pass from Jalen Milroe to Ryan Williams.

  • Meanwhile, Illinois pulled off a big 23-17 win over No. 19 Kansas. Party time in Champaign.

  • Touchdown Bama

The Tide got the ball right back and scored quickly, capped by a 16-yard pass from Jalen Milroe to Kobe Prentice.

  • The action slowed down considerably in Nebraska-Colorado. Only 3 total points scored in the 3rd quarter.

The Buffs are facing an uphill battle and trail by 25 points in the fourth inning.

And they were just stuffed into the 4th and 1st positions.
