LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The Clark County Division of Air Quality (DAQ) is issuing a smoke warning for Thursday, September 12 and Friday, September 13.

Smoke from the Southern California wildfires lingers in the Las Vegas Valley, creating higher concentrations of fine particulate matter.

Additionally, changing weather patterns are expected to bring more smoke from wildfires to Southern Nevada on Friday.

Wildfire smoke contains small particles and other pollutants that can aggravate respiratory conditions such as bronchitis, asthma, or heart disease. Consult your doctor if you have a medical condition that makes you sensitive to air quality. Under current conditions, it may be best for children, the elderly, and people with respiratory or heart conditions to stay indoors.

USEFUL TIPS TO LIMIT PERSONAL EXPOSURE TO SMOKE

• Stay indoors if you see or smell smoke.
• Keep windows and doors closed.
• Limit outdoor activities on days with high particulate matter in the air. Exercising makes you breathe more heavily and increases the chance that you will inhale a lot of particulate matter.
• Consider replacing your indoor air filters if they are dirty.
