Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Chamarri Conner played a key role Sunday, making momentum-changing plays in the second half that helped spark a comeback win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Conner spoke to the media after Sunday’s victory and reflected on his best performance to date as a professional.

“Man, that was awesome. That was an awesome feeling,” Conner said, referring to his scoop-and-score touchdown after Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow’s fumble and his embrace by the more than 75,000 fans packed into Arrowhead Stadium.

The play gave the Chiefs a brief lead, but Conner wasn’t done influencing the game. The former Virginia Tech star tackled Burrow, blocking Cincinnati’s fourth-quarter drive.

“Coach Spags (Defensive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo) called a great play. He turned it up and it was wide open for me. I couldn’t miss the layup, so I tried to hit it as quick as I could,” said Conner, who finished the game with six tackles, four solos, one sack and a tackle for loss.

Justin Reid’s hand injury forced him out of the game several times, giving Conner and others in the secondary more minutes. The depth in the secondary shows its strength with performances like Sunday’s against the Bengals.
