Prevent Missouri from making the irreparable mistake of executing an innocent person.

Missouri is scheduled to execute Marcellus Williams on September 24 for a crime he did not commit. Last week, after accepting an Alford plea that was subsequently blocked by the Missouri Supreme Court, St. Louis County Judge Bruce Hilton denied the request to overturn Marcellus’ conviction and death sentence, despite the prosecution’s acknowledgement that the previous administration made constitutional errors in his case. We need everyone’s help in calling on Governor Mike Parson to stop Missouri from killing an innocent man.

Earlier, St. Louis County District Attorney Wesley Bell had filed a motion to overturn Marcellus’ conviction, believing the forensic evidence excluded Marcellus from the crime.

At a hearing on August 28, his office subsequently admitted that the previous administration had made constitutional errors that contributed to Marcellus’ unreliable conviction and death sentence, and had mishandled the evidence in his case.

Now, Judge Hilton has denied PA Bell’s request to overturn Marcellus’ conviction and death sentence, and the Missouri Supreme Court will move forward with the September 24 execution date.
