Caitlin Clark made WNBA history by notching her second career triple-double, the first time a rookie had done it before. The Indiana Fever defeated the Los Angeles Sparks 93-86 on Wednesday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

The triple-double also moves the Fever rookie into fourth place on the WNBA career scoring list. Did Clark, who pulled down her 10th rebound with 10.2 seconds left in the game to secure the impressive stat line, know how important the rebound she pulled down was?

In a post-game interview, Clark admitted she knew she was just one rebound away from a historic triple-double.

“Of course I knew that,” Clark said with a smile. “But honestly, we were just trying to stop. I thought our defense got a lot better there toward the end of the game. But we’ve got to find a way to be consistent there for four quarters.”

“Proud of our group, we found a way to get it done. But somebody had to get the rebound. AB (Aliyah Boston) joked, we always joke about stealing each other’s rebounds, so it was fun.”

The tape’s narrative supports Clark’s answer, as cameras captured her smiling broadly as she dribbled onto the court after knocking down the tenth board.

The Fever, who clinched a playoff spot on Tuesday without even taking the field, are clearly having fun. And Clark, who is increasingly comfortable in the pro game, seems destined to take home Rookie of the Year honors.
