Caio Borralho explains why he attacked Dricus Du Plessis after dismantling Jared Cannonier: ‘Adesanya didn’t do what I did to him’

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA- “The Natural” wants his chance.

Caio Borralho took a huge win in the main event of UFC Vegas 96 last night (Sat., Aug 24, 2024) when he defeated former UFC middleweight title challenger Jared Cannonr, whom he defeated via unanimous decision at the Apex in Las Vegas.

During his post-match interview with Michael BispingBorralho made a stupid remark (again) by challenging the middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis.

Check it out:

After calm had returned, Borralho spoke to Ag.Fight following his victory to analyze his criticism.

“It was as tough as I expected. I knew Jared was a really tough guy. I knew he had championship qualities, he’s fought for the belt before. Adesanya didn’t do what I did to him,” Borralho said. “I knew he was the guy who would demand the best from me, and he did. It was exactly what I imagined, and the win came exactly how I imagined it.”

This is the third time I challenged (Du Plessis). UFC listens. The other times I won by decision. Tonight I won by decision, but I was almost done with Jared and I won Fight of the Night. I think Dana (White) liked it; Hunter (Campbell) said he loved it and the crowd liked it. If my title fight isn’t next… When the next contender is being talked about, my name will be in the mix.”

Borralho makes a good point by stating that he beat Cannonier in five rounds, while Israel Adesanya defeated him in a terrible fight at UFC 276.

The top of the UFC middleweight division is currently crowded, with multiple fighters deserving of a title shot. Unfortunately, Borralho is likely in fourth place.

Despite this, Borralho remains undefeated in the UFC, with a 7-0 mark, and will be ranked No. 5 in the middleweight division on Tuesday.

How about a fight with Adesanya?
