The moose was located near the former Eddie’s Supper Club, near the intersection of Second Avenue North and 38th Street.

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks rangers and biologists have captured the elk and will relocate it to the Little Belt Mountains.

Danie-Weston Teppo shared this video of the moose wandering around and then feeling the effects of the tranquilizer before being loaded into a truck.

FWP said bull elk often travel long distances this time of year in search of cow elk.

Elk can be found in many parts of Montana, although they are more likely to be seen in the more mountainous regions of western Montana.

They occasionally wander into populated areas, and their large size and unique appearance often cause curious people to gather.

However, elk can be unpredictable and aggressive, especially during the rut. Nature experts therefore advise to keep your distance.

Great Falls Park & Recreation notes, “Be aware of your surroundings at all times and if you see the moose, do not intervene.”

The Montana Field Guide says of elk: “Coat dark brown to black; large overhanging muzzle; drooping ‘bell’ below throat; antlers massive and flat; tail short; bulls (largest antlered animals in the world) weigh 800 to 1,200 pounds. Cows 600 to 800 lbs. Usually solitary, but may congregate during rut or on prime winter grounds at home in water, can remain submerged for 3 to 4 minutes, or swim for miles;
