Broncos CB Pat Surtain returns interception 100 yards for touchdown

DENVER – Las Vegas Raiders’ quarterback Gardner Minshew’s attempt to throw his second touchdown pass of the day to Brock Bowers became a little piece of history for Denver Broncos’ cornerback Pat Surtain II on Sunday.

On a first-and-goal from the Broncos’ 5-yard line, Minshew rolled to his left and overthrew Bowers. Surtain, eyeing Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, scooped up the errant throw and sprinted up the Broncos sideline for a 100-yard touchdown return.

It was the second-longest pick-six interception in team history: Aqib Talib had a 103-yard touchdown return in 2017. It was the longest interception return of Surtain’s career, his first interception of the season and the eighth in his career.

Officials initially threw a flag on the return near the Broncos’ bench because linebacker Jonah Elliss had blocked Minshew, but the flag was picked up.

Surtain’s return tied the match, 10–10.
