Brittany Mahomes has slammed ‘haters’ after widespread criticism of an Instagram post by Donald Trump that she apparently liked.

“To be a hater as an adult you have to have some deep rooted issues that you refuse to heal from childhood,” read a post on Brittany Mahomes’ Instagram Story. “There is no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others do well.”

That happened after followers of the sports team’s owner, the wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, reportedly noticed that she had liked a post on former President Donald Trump’s account that outlined the Republican Party’s platform for the 2024 election, including deporting “pro-Hamas radicals” and banning “men from women’s sports.”

Screenshots and a screen recording video indicated that she liked the post, but according to a review from Newsweekher account is not among the more than 400,000 ‘likes’ on the post.

Brittany Mahomes has never publicly endorsed any candidate in this or any other election, has never liked any of Trump’s posts, and does not follow Trump on Instagram.

Still, her like on the post prompted a flood of criticism from her followers and fans of Taylor Swift, who began following Brittany Mahomes after Swift began dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce last year.

“Brittany Mahomes just revealed she is a Trump supporter,” one person wrote.

“Patrick Mahomes imagine marrying someone who doesn’t care about your rights and the rights of your child. Brittany Mahomes agreeing with Project 2025 but married a black man with mixed children is insane,” another post read.

Newsweek Brittany Mahomes reached out to Instagram and the Trump campaign via email for comment.

Her husband Patrick Mahomes made headlines in April when he refused to endorse anyone in this year’s election.

“I don’t want to pressure anyone into voting for a particular president,” Patrick Mahomes said Time magazine, and instead encouraged fans to “use their voice” and do their own research. He advocated for higher voter turnout in 2020, but did not endorse any candidates.

Brittany Mahomes has also been in the news in the past because of her friendship with Swift.

The two have been photographed together at Chiefs games and have reportedly been seen out and about together, along with Selena Gomez and Sophie Turner.

But as Brittany Mahomes and Swift’s friendship appeared to blossom, fans of the multi-Grammy-winning singer dug up old tweets from when Brittany Mahomes was a teenager in which she appeared to diss Swift.

“Taylor Swift… I wanna know when you’re going to find something else to write about besides boys and relationships,” one of the tweets read. The tweets have since been deleted.
