JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Quarterback Cam Miller scored on an 11-yard run with 50 seconds left to lead No. 2-ranked North Dakota State to a 38-35 victory over East Tennessee State before a record 11,040 crowd at William B. Greene Jr. Stadium.

The Bison trailed by 12 with 2:20 left and were facing a fourth-and-10 when Miller got a hit in the pocket but delivered a 38-yard completion John Gores which put the Bison on the ETSU 3. TK-Marshall scored on the next play and Griffin Crosa’s An extra-point kick made it 35-30.

from the NDSU Darius-Givance recovered the subsequent onside kick by Kaedin Steindorf with 1:57 left, and the Bison (2-1) marched 58 yards in six plays for the go-ahead score. A two-point conversion pass to Bryce Lance made it a three-point game.

Bison Linebacker Logan Kopp intercepted Jaylen King with 17 seconds left on the clock to secure the victory.

Miller completed 21 of 33 passes for 250 yards and one touchdown, plus 47 yards on 15 carries with two TDs. CharMar Brown led the Bison rushing attack with 65 yards on 11 carries and Barika Kpeenu carried nine times for 61 yards.

Bryce Lance led the Bison with five receptions and Mekhi Collins had four catches for a team-high 67 yards.

Both teams scored in their first three attacks in a first half that was very much a play-off. Eli Ozicks A 54-yard field goal was the second-longest in Bison history, but ETSU (1-2) answered with a 61-yard rushing TD by Bryson Irby to take a 21-17 lead at halftime.

Irby scored his third touchdown of the game with a 10-yard run, capping a 14-play, 75-yard ETSU drive that consumed the first 6:39 of the third quarter and gave the Buccaneers a 28-17 lead. Irby finished with 147 yards on 15 carries.

North Dakota State finished with a 481-383 advantage in total yards and controlled the football for more than 36 minutes. The teams combined for 22 penalties, with the Bison taking 12 for 92 yards and the Bucs 10 for 100 yards.

NDSU is scheduled to close out non-conference play against Towson in the annual homecoming game at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 at Gate City Bank Field in the Fargodome. The Tigers are 1-2 on the season after a 14-13 loss to fourth-seeded Villanova.
