As for what to do next, I would advise you to get crystal clear on what your priorities are right now. Sometimes we all have to do work we don’t love just to keep things moving – but sometimes we have to be brave and make a change. Only you know how desperately and quickly you need that change.

Ask yourself what is most important to you right now? Creating change? Feeling valued? Doing something that comes naturally to you? Earning a living? A change from your current work situation? Be honest with yourself, list those needs, and I suspect your answer is likely somewhere in the outcome of that exercise.

Finally, try to focus on small steps, not giant leaps. Even a small step toward fulfilling your greatest need right now will feel amazing. And as always, try to be kind to yourself along the way—a career journey is just that, and one that rarely follows a straight path.
