Badgers News: Wisconsin Drops Two Spots to No. 8 in Latest Polls

The latest AVCA polls came out this week and the Wisconsin Badgers found themselves slipping again. They dropped two spots to No. 8 after a 2-1 week that included a loss to No. 4 Louisville and wins over No. 18 Baylor and No. 25 TCU.

The Badgers started the season slowly, playing tough games against Stanford, Louisville and Texas, all of whom are currently ranked among the top six teams in the country.

However, they managed to find their groove this weekend in exciting five-setters against Baylor and TCU in the Big 10/Big 12 match. They visited and achieved their first two victories of the season.

It’s a transition period for a young Badgers team implementing some new pieces and formations, so it’s only natural that Wisconsin will have its fair share of ups and downs overall.

But this weekend’s two victories showed that Wisconsin can overcome adversity, even when the going gets tough. The Badgers came back from a 2-1 deficit in Friday’s win over TCU to win the final two sets 25-16 and 15-11. Against Baylor, the Badgers started strong with a 2-0 lead, lost two sets, and came back to win the final set 16-14 in a thrilling match.

Wisconsin is still in the early stages of the season, but the past week has shown promising results for the young Badgers team. They return to the UW Field House on Tuesday to face Milwaukee, before heading to the Kohl Center next week for a rival matchup against No. 24 Marquette.
