Bachelorette Jenn Says Devin Dumped Her, Regrets Engagement

Jenn Tran revealed during the live portion of the final that she and Devin Strader went their separate ways after the recordings The Bachelorette.

It seemed like a happy ending with a twist after Jenn, 26, told Jesse Palmer of her plans to propose to Devin, 28. “I’m not going to let Devin propose to me today. I’m going to propose to Devin,” she told Jesse during the Tuesday, September 3, episode.

But things took a turn off camera. “We left Hawaii engaged,” Jenn said through tears during After the last rose. “I thought I had found the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. Once we left Hawaii, things were different.”

Jenn claimed that Devin began to “withdraw” after the show. “I was confused, I didn’t understand it because we left so happy,” she said.

While some roses stand the test of time, others fade before Neil Lane’s engagement ring can be adjusted. The Bachelor premiered on ABC in March 2002, with Alex Michel being named the world’s most eligible bachelor. More than 20 women vied for his heart, and one of reality television’s most successful franchises was born. (…)

“He basically said he didn’t love me anymore and didn’t feel the same way anymore,” Jenn recalled, adding that Devin said he “regretted” the engagement. “He had checked out. It wasn’t what he wanted anymore.”

Jenn indicated that she fought hard for the relationship, while Devin did not want relationship therapy.

During a meeting with Jenn’s family earlier in the episode, Devin asked about her brother James‘ blessing and didn’t get it. James explained that he “respected” Devin for asking, but he didn’t want to give the OK because he hadn’t spoken to fellow finalists Marcus.

“The conversation with her brother made me even more scared,” Devin said in a confessional.

After the interaction, Jenn encouraged Devin not to get inside his head — but he admitted in a confessional that he was “doubting” himself. “Maybe I’m not The One for Jenn,” he said.

Despite his hesitation, Devin assured Jenn that he was all in on their relationship during the evening portion of their date. “I love the thought of forever with you,” he said.

Devin has been through a lot of ups and downs The Bacheloretteearlier in the season, he was in a fight with several men. Yet his connection to Jenn was undeniable and he was one of the first to reveal that he was in love with her.

“What I really want to hear is that she loves me too,” Devin said before their overnight date. “And not the day before I get down on one knee or anything. I want to know so I can build on that.”

When Jenn didn’t say the L-word during their fantasy suite, Devin flew into a fit of rage and told Jesse he might cut the trip short.

“I have a lot of hard thoughts. … I was really, really excited for my date,” he explained during the Aug. 26 episode. “But the one big question I wanted to ask her — ‘Do you love me as much as I love you?’ — I never got to ask her. … I didn’t want to scare her with my true feelings about how bad I was inside.”

Jesse encouraged Devin to talk to Jenn. She became visibly emotional during their chat, which aired before the Men tell everything on August 27th.

“I don’t know how to be in a healthy relationship. I don’t know how to maybe be what you want me to be and I want to do that for you. And I want to feel like I’m doing that the way that you’re doing that for me week after week,” she said.

Jenn then confirmed to Devin that she loved him. “Devin, I really love you, you fucking idiot. I love you, I really do. And sometimes I don’t know how to be as amazing as you,” she said at the time.
