According to The Post’s Victoria Giardina, a trade journalist and content strategist, “deals are always in flux” during Amazon Prime Big Deal Days.

When does Prime Day end in October?

The two-day October discount bonanza, the second Prime Deal event of the year, runs from Tuesday, October 8 to Wednesday, October 9.

Giardina cited the BISSELL Little Green Multi-Purpose Portable Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner as an example. The item was on sale for $99 in the run-up to Prime Day, dropping to a low of $81.99 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the OXO Good Grips Folding Dish Rack was previously on sale days ago for $34.99, but is now no longer available at the low retail price.

Do I need to be a Prime member to shop on Prime Day in October?

Just because something isn’t on sale on the first day of Amazon Prime Big Deal Days, which are exclusive to Prime members, doesn’t mean there won’t be a deal on it on the second day. Conversely, products may be on sale the first day, but full price the next day – or worse, they may be sold out.

Amazon also offers Lightning Deals – or short-lived sales on certain items that are available for up to a few hours.

“Keep an eye on the product category or product you are shopping for, use your common sense, as we do, and don’t be fooled by crossed-out prices and red percentage signs,” Giardina said.

“Sometimes a 20% discount on an expensive item is much better than a 50% discount on a $10 shampoo.”

If you’re wondering what a good deal is, PJ McCormick of The Post, deals writer and reporter, previously shared that he’s “excited” about a product or service with more than 35% off.

That said, he also advised shoppers to listen to customer reviews, compare prices with other online retailers and try to find the best deals on higher-priced products, such as TVs, air conditioners, Apple devices and more.

Prime Big Deal Days vs. Prime Day

The only real difference between the sales bonanzas, as McCormick explains, is the month in which they occur.

Amazon’s current Prime Big Deal Days are closer to Christmas than its July predecessor, Prime Day, and offer a fantastic opportunity to get an early start on your holiday shopping.
