Anna Delvey’s ‘Dancing With the Stars’ pro surprises with her blunt response to being voted off

Warning: Spoilers for the September 24, 2024 episode of “Dancing With the Stars” follow below.

Anna Delvey has been ousted from the current season of “Dancing with the Stars” and she reacted quite harshly to the decision.

Delvey, whose real name is Anna Sorokin, was one of the first celebrities to be cut from the 33rd season of the competition show.

She and her partner, pro Ezra Sosa, were eliminated on the September 24 episode. Delvey and Sosa earned a score of 17/30 when they danced to KT Tunstall’s “Suddenly I See” on Tuesday night. Although their score wasn’t the lowest — the show also takes fan votes into account — the pair were still eliminated. Tori Spelling and her pro, Pasha Pashkov, were also sent home.

When asked what she would take away from her experience on the show, Delvey dryly replied in one word: “Nothing.”

The blunt answer seemed to surprise Sosa. He frowned and laughed.

The show’s hosts Julianna Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro also laughed at her comment as the show’s credits began to roll.

“You’ve had fun, stop it, stop it,” Ribeiro replied.

Delvey appeared angry at the start of her second episode about the lukewarm reception she received online from fans of the series last week.

Sosa revealed in a TikTok post ahead of the show on Monday that Delvey cried in the bathroom after her “DWTS” debut.

“On my end, I felt so much positivity,” he said in the video. “On my partner’s end, she didn’t get that. I think the hardest part of my day after the press line was when she was reading the comments and we couldn’t find her. They finally found her in the bathroom. She was crying. I’ve never seen her like that before and it broke my heart.”

Before her performance on September 24, Delvey explained what had happened.

“After dancing I was really happy, but when I went online and read all these comments I just felt really upset,” she said in a pre-recorded segment. “I’m used to people thinking negative things about me. I get upset for a little bit, but then I just move on.”

Delvey made headlines in 2018 after she was arrested for posing as a German heiress and defrauding banks, hotels and ordinary people of more than $200,000. She served two years in prison for her financial crimes and was released on probation in February 2021.

Her name really entered the American lexicon after a 2022 Netflix series based on her story, “Inventing Anna,” was released.
