Anna Delvey says she’s ready for some fun and a workout after joining the cast of the upcoming season of Dancing with the stars.

Delvey (whose real name is Anna Sorokin) is believed to be the convicted fraudster whose actions were reported in Jessica Pressler’s book New York magazine article. The fake German heiress allegedly scammed several Manhattanites into giving her hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash, goods and services. The story was subsequently dramatized for Netflix’s Inventing Annastarring Julia Garner as Delvey and Shonda Rhimes as showrunner.

When asked what prompted her to join the ABC reality dance competition, Delvey admitted that she was talked into participating and then given permission by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Delvey was released from prison in 2021 after serving four years, but has been under house arrest since then while she fights her deportation case.

“I was kind of talked into doing this. I got permission from ICE and then it was kind of too late to back out,” she said. The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday after the cast was revealed on Good morning America.

Delvey will wear an ankle monitor during the match. Her spokesman, Juda Engelmayer, confirmed to the Associated Press that Delvey “could travel within 70 miles of her home base and anywhere in the five boroughs of New York City, while previously under house arrest.”

When asked what impact the monitor would have on her performance, Delvey replied that it would not.

“How would it affect my performance? It’s actually quite mild,” she said, before offering THR’s Neha Joy to touch the bracelet.

Looking to the future, Delvey said that by taking part in the show she just wants to “have some fun and maybe get a little bit of exercise.”

Delvey will be partnered with new pro Ezra Sosa. Sosa credited Delvey for his “dancing ability” and said THR He is “excited that America will actually see Delvey” and “how she’s doing.”

“The media has seen a representation of her that I personally don’t think is her,” he said, before adding that he’s looking forward to everyone meeting “the real Anna Delvey.”

In addition to Delvey, other announced cast members include Dwight Howard, Tori Spelling, Eric Roberts, Super Bowl champion Danny Amendola, actor Chandler Kinney, Olympic rugby player Ilona Maher, model Brooks Nader, Bravo star Phaedra Parks, actor Reginald VelJohnson and Olympic gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik.

The last one Bachelor And Bachelorette stars Joey Graziadei and Jenn Tran will also be in the mix. Tran’s finale aired the night before the announcement.
