Alabama’s Kalen DeBoer talks about Ryan Williams and Jalen Milroe injuries after Georgia

Alabama football combined a dominant first half with a shaky second half, in which it did just enough to win the game and ultimately beat Georgia 41-34 on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Freshman receiver Ryan Williams scored a late touchdown, then freshman cornerback Zabien Brown grabbed an interception to earn the victory over the No. 1/2 Bulldogs.

Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer spoke to reporters after the game. Here are some things he said.

Kalen DeBoer press conference after the game

  • DeBoer on Zabien Brown interception: “Just in a great position. It certainly looked different with the way he played it.
  • DeBoer on the two freshmen who left late: “It was fun to celebrate those guys in the locker room”
  • DeBoer: We expect to win games. These games. Of course the locker room is full of tension. I also want to make sure we understand that this is the expectation.
  • DeBoer on Ryan Williams and Zabien Brown: “They definitely earned the line in the middle of their helmet tonight.”
  • DeBoer on the emotional rollercoaster: “When you’re up against a really good football team, you know there’s going to be a strong push.”
  • DeBoer of Kendrick Law said he has a lower body injury. He said it was a shame he couldn’t finish the match because of the hard work he put into it.
  • DeBoer: “Guys being ready when their opportunity comes, we talked about that a lot during fall camp.”
  • DeBoer on Jalen Milroe said one of the areas he has improved is the location of throws. “If we keep doing those things, we’re going to be hard to defend.”
  • DeBoer said Ryan Williams’ ability after the catch has impressed him.
  • DeBoer said he is proud of his players for maintaining confidence and not doing it in an arrogant way.
