A’ja Wilson scorer: Aces star passes Jewell Loyd for WNBA single-season scoring record

Las Vegas Aces superstar A’ja Wilson is having one of the best individual seasons in WNBA history.

Wilson, the back-to-back Defensive Player of the Year, has been the WNBA’s presumptive MVP since the early stages of the 2024 season. In addition to her on-court accomplishments with the Aces, Wilson was named MVP of the women’s basketball tournament at the Paris Olympics.

To add to her growing list of accolades, the 28-year-old made history this season as she will post the most prolific scoring season in league history, measured by multiple metrics. Not only is Wilson’s scoring average the highest in league history, she is also on track to become the first WNBA player to surpass 1,000 points in a single season.

Wilson has appeared in 34 of Las Vegas’ first 35 games and has five games to score 71 points, a mark she could easily surpass based on her scoring average.
